We’re now at a point when celebrity-backed spirits are not the stigma they used to be. In fact, many of them are quite good, even taking home top awards at prestigious competitions. Just like his Parks and Recreation character Ron Swanson, Nick Offerman is a lover of Scotch — more specifically, Lagavulin single malt whisky. Back in 2019, the actor worked alongside the Islay distillery for a limited-edition 11-year-old expression and now he’s back with his third such release.
Following last year’s 11-year-old Guinness Cask Finish, Lagavulin and Offerman have debuted their latest release together, Offerman Edition: Charred Oak Cask. For a brand known for its highly-peated whiskies, Lagavulin promises this new bottle will be among its smokiest ever. And we can see why.
Aged for 11 years in former bourbon and red wine barrels that have been shaved down and then heavily charred for a second time, this new single malt has been designed to pair excellently with seared medium-rare ribeye steak. The unusual maturation process has imparted notes of red berries, vanilla, and heavy peat, and is bottled at 92 proof.
Grab a bottle of Lagavulin’s limited-edition Offerman Edition: Charred Oak Cask from select retailers for around $89.
