Whether you’re watching a music video, YouTube ad, or people walking down the street, it’s easy to come across Ultimate Ears’ popular Wonderboom. The portable speaker’s user-friendly connectivity has made it an outdoor favorite, and the audio manufacturer just upped the scales with its third-generation version.
For sustainability’s sake, Ultimate Ears has implemented over 30% recycled plastic into its design process, which is a big step forward for the brand. Sound-wise, it retains the same 360-degree listening experience, powered by a pair of 40mm active drivers and passive radiators. Like its predecessors, the Wonderboom 3 garners a trusty IP67 rating, so it’s resistant to dirt and dust. It can even be submerged in a meter of water for up to half an hour with no qualms.
For further resistance, it’s been drop-tested from 5 feet, assuring it can take a tumble or two. On top of its durability, the latest iteration features an extra hour of battery life — 14 hours compared to the previous model’s 13 hours — so you can enjoy another album or episode of your favorite podcast. Another noticeable improvement is its Bluetooth range, which spans up to 131 feet, whereas the Wonderboom 2 only featured a 100-foot range.
The Wonderboom 3 will be available starting August 31 for $100. There are four eye-popping colors to choose from, including Active Black, Performance Blue, Hyper Pink, and Joyous Bright, so figure out your favorite before it hits shelves.
