Razer Built a Phone Controller That Flips Open Like a Butterfly Knife, and It Never Needs Charging

For the last half decade, the mobile controller arms race has become increasingly more competitive as brands chase solutions that are both smaller and more ergonomic. It’s certainly posed plenty of challenges, as many of these more full-sized options great on the couch, but also useless in real life. Nobody hauls a phone-sized gamepad around.

Now Razer, one of the brand’s arguably most responsible for the bloated options on the market, has built one you’ll actually want to carry. Say hello to the Razer Prio, a foldable USB-C controller that lives in your pocket.

Flips Open Like a Butterfly Knife

Folded, the Prio is a 101-gram puck measuring 107mm x 67mm x 23mm, which puts it in the same footprint territory as a credit card and closer to an AirPods case than a controller. It’s barely heavier than a deck of playing cards.

But the opening move is where things get really fun. Give it a twist and the two halves rotate apart, then stretch across any phone up to 7 inches (iPhone 17 Pro Max and Galaxy S26 Ultra included). The elastic band bridging the halves even hides the wiring, and most slim-to-medium cases can stay put.

Small Sticks, Zero Drift

Once unfolded, you’re greeted by a complete console layout with symmetrical low-profile thumbsticks, a tactile 4-way D-pad, ABXY buttons, bumpers, and proper analog triggers you can actually feather in racing games. The face buttons are also silent by design.

The thumbsticks are probably the real story, though. They use contactless capacitive sensors, which is a first for any Razer controller. This means there are no physical contacts to wear down and no drift to develop over time.

Nothing to Charge, Nothing to Pair

And because the Prio runs straight off your phone’s USB-C port, there’s no internal battery, and no charging routine to worry about. Just plug in and play with wired-grade latency.

It handles native iOS and Android titles and streams the heavy stuff via Xbox Cloud Gaming, Steam Link, PS Remote Play, and Razer’s own PC Remote Play, with a dedicated button that pulls up your library through Razer Cortex Mobile. Razer says this is the first entry in an entirely new ultra-portable line, so you can expect to see more where this came from.
