While some audio brands are trying to find ways to improve and perfect the way we listen to music on the go, others remain dedicated to innovating traditional audio experiences at home.
One such innovation is McIntosh’s Hybrid Drive, which combines the richness of a vacuum tube amplifier with the power of a solid-state amp by splitting up the audio signal before feeding the mids and highs to the former and the lows to the latter. The end result maximizes the potential of the audio that leaves your speakers.
A few weeks ago, McIntosh unveiled the new MC451 Dual Mono Amplifier, which implements its Hybrid Drive tech into a smaller, more compact unit compared to its previous MC901, cutting both the vacuum tube and solid state wattage in half (150W and 300W, respectively) and the weight down by 47lbs. Additionally, the footprint of the new unit is roughly 1sq.ft smaller than its predecessor.
This week, the MC451 was recognized for its audio advancements at CES 2023 in Las Vegas where it was named an Innovation Awards Honoree. Head over to McIntosh’s website to learn more about the new Dual Mono Amplifier and to find a dealer.
