LG is one of the most trusted names in the world of TVs, and its lineup of OLEDs includes some of the best you can get right now. It’s not surprising whenever they come through with something like the behemoth 97-inch OLED TV that was revealed last year, but it was certainly a surprise when a briefcase TV was announced (yes, you read that right). The LG StanbyME Go was globally launched this past May, but availability and pricing for the States have just been announced. Now, the LG StanbyME Go Portable Smart Touch Screen is here, and it’s a TV inside a briefcase (with a touchscreen to boot).
Inside the briefcase, a 27-inch LED touchscreen is attached to an adjustable stand that can change the TV from landscape to portrait mode, tilt, and raise/lower it. The case isn’t just a novelty, however, because LG has included some pockets to hold accessories so you can take games and movies with you on the go (made easier by the classic briefcase handle). Regarding battery life, you get up to three hours of viewing time (with Dolby Vision support) on a single charge.
This TV comes with LG’s webOS (so all of your favorite streaming services are ready to go) and supports AirPlay, screen mirroring with iOS and Android devices, and Bluetooth/WiFi pairing capabilities. You can also go hands-free and use your voice to navigate the interface. As for the sound, 20-watt speakers with Dolby Atmos surround sound are built in.
The LG StanbyME Go Portable Smart Touch Screen will only be available through the LG website, and it’s going for $999. Shipping is expected to begin near the end of August, and if you pre-order soon, you’ll get the LG XBOOM 360 Bluetooth speaker ($249 value) as a bonus.
