BALMUDA Ventures into an Entirely New Realm with Their First Smartphone

Known for crafting some of the coolest toasters and coffee makers around, Japanese company BALMUDA has oft-delivered on glossy home appliances that make any kitchen appear abundantly more fashionable. Having manufactured stylish lanterns and fans, the brand is looking to show just how much more they’re capable of with a full-fledged dive into the mobile world. With the first BALMUDA Phone, the brand’s design-centric approach goes one step further.

As powerful as it is easy on the eyes, the phone is powered by Android and runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 processor,  Moreover, BALMUDA looks to stray away from the larger phones we’ve grown accustomed to, with theirs offering a curved shape for an ergonomic fit, accentuated by a humbly-sized 4.9″ screen. Having said that, its small-scale take on the modern-day doesn’t take away from its presentation, boasting a full HD display. On top of that, it features some noteworthy tech specs from a photography perspective, housing a 48-megapixel rear camera and 8-megapixel front camera, going to show that people don’t necessarily need the largest phone around to snap some quality photos. Similar to the common market smartphone, however, is its water-resistant capabilities, with the BALMUDA Phone providing IPX4 water resistance to ensure its durability.

Coming off of over 80 design mockups, it’s refreshing to see what BALMUDA ultimately managed to make out of them. While there is currently no official word as to when the BALMUDA Phone looks to hit the market throughout the States, it is currently available in Japan for $919.
