Tag Heuer might be one of the most synonymous watchmakers when it comes to automotive timepieces, but did you know that the Swiss icon has also transposed its style to the realm of eyewear? Its latest collection of sunglasses pays homage to the man that helped rebrand the company, giving it the reputation it has today.

A Legacy Well-Earned
The great-grandson of founder Edouard Heuer, Jack Heuer became CEO in 1962 — a position he held firmly for 20 years. In that time, his visionary outlook and automotive passion infused a petrol spirit into the inherited brand. Models created during that era include the Carrera, Autavia, Daytona, and the square-shaped Monaco.
Around that time, Heuer (the company wasn’t called TAG Heuer until 1985) became the first Swiss watch in space, on the wrist of John Glenn, and then later partnered with Breitling and Hamilton in a race against Seiko and Zenith to make one of the first-ever automatic chronograph wristwatches. These models were then introduced in 1969.
Heuer carried on throughout the ‘70s and ‘80s, with innovations such as the Chronosplit, which was the first digital chronograph, using dual LED and LCD displays. Jack Heuer helped the company weather the Quartz Crisis at that time with a variety of pivots to quartz movements. Today, he serves as the Honorary Chairman for the brand.

The Jack Heuer Sunglasses
Just like the Monaco or the Carrera, the Jack Heuer Sunglasses put their own spin on a timeless design, ushering in the aviator for the modern age. Available in blue, burgundy, or green gradient lens options, the shades are built with a Japanese-made natural titanium frame featuring a semi-matte finish. Even the hinges are made from the metal. An increasingly more popular material in the 21st century than it ever was before, titanium is known for being both lightweight and strong, making these even more comfortable for your face.
Sporting an 18mm bridge, the frames are then paired with adjustable bio-nylon nose pads that have been rubberized for comfort and grip. Also made of bio-nylon, the category 3 lenses feature the brand’s Base 4 design that promises durability and high clarity.
