To say that the gamer and sneakerhead communities are one and the same would be a stretch, but particular capsules have done their best to prove otherwise, and there is yet another on the horizon. BAIT, a Los Angeles-bred shoe shop turned global house of joint efforts, has tapped in Capcom for their latest Street Fighter-themed collection, but they’ve also managed to throw adidas in the mix as well. Ultimately, the three combined to deliver four new pairs of new kicks inspired by Ryu, and Co.
Giving both the adidas Lexicon and Ozweego some arcade-inspired makeovers, Ryu’s iconic white gi and red headband are emulated in the latter with impeccable subtlety. While the prosperous fighter’s name and attire tend to garner the most attention, next in line is Chun-Li, who was the inspiration for a pair of eye-popping blue and yellow Lexicons finished off with some of his signature spikes. Following suit, we’ve got another pair of Lexicons taking after the fiery wrath of Dhalsim, embellished with a trio of skulls on their laces. To round out the quartet, E. Honda earns his stripes too, as the final pair of Ozweegos are touched up with strips of red and blue. Each shoe is finished off with the game’s iconic logo on its tongue, as well as a graphic insole specific to each character.
With all these eccentric kicks, it was only right to throw in some suitable attire to sweeten the pot, which is why BAIT also designed a set of shirts to go hand-in-hand with your character of choice — or whichever one you were able to get your hands on. With each pair retailing for $140, the nostalgia-inducing Street Fighter x adidas x BAIT capsule is currently available to pre-order through BAIT’s website.
