While Salomon shoes have become incredibly popular in recent years, the French shoemaker is currently celebrating being around for 75 of them — years, that is. To commemorate its anniversary, the brand has released an exclusive take on its trendy XT-6 silhouette inspired by its own archival Adventure 7’s silhouette.
The now-discontinued Adventure 7 came about in 1992 and has served as a quintessential silhouette ever since. In fact, the new XT-6’s durable synthetic upper features a canvas vamp and retro laces that take after those on the vintage stepper. Then, it gets doused in a color palette (Golden Oak/Acorn/Black) embracing ‘90s-era hiking gear to channel the original hiking shoe and the decade overall.
The shoes offer just as much from a technical standpoint, too. Thanks to their downright-facing chassis and lugged Contagrip outsole, they are engineered to remain stable and sturdy no matter what terrain you’re on. It also features EndoFit’s signature internal sleeve to secure your foot and provide an optimized, nearly-personalized fit. Lastly, it features a dual-density Ortholite sockliner that will gradually adjust to your foot and serve as a cushy bed for it.
If you’re a fan of vintage hiking equipment, then you’re bound to appreciate the dedication Salomon puts into this old-school-inspired pair of kicks. The Salomon XT-6 Expanse “75th Anniversary” is available now for €164.00 (~$169).
