Rimowa’s New Bronze Brown Luggage Color Brings Warmth to the Terminal

Few sights at the airport are more classy than an aluminum Rimowa suitcase rolling through the terminal. The travel brand icon has revolutionized and defined the aluminum luggage category but has been no stranger to different colorways and finishes. Yet, few come close to the silver-colored original. Until now. With its new Bronze Brown finish, Rimowa offers something distinctly different from its traditional palette with a color that splits the difference between sophistication and boldness while still capturing the design that made the Original line legendary.

A Foundation Built on Engineering Excellence

The Rimowa story traces back to 1898 when Paul Morszeck founded the company in Cologne, Germany, initially crafting wooden trunks before pivoting to aluminum in the 1930s after a fire destroyed all their other materials. That aluminum expertise became Rimowa’s calling card, particularly after introducing the distinctive groove pattern that would define luxury luggage for decades. The Original line represents the purest expression of this heritage. It’s functional minimalism executed with obsessive attention to detail.

A New Take on a Classic

Bronze Brown maintains the technical ideals that built Rimowa’s reputation. The copper-like finish on the anodized aluminum brings a beautiful warmth to the signature grooved shell that’s both modern and classic. The silver has garnered so many copycats over the years that you almost forget that it started with Rimowa. However, the Bronze Brown looks entirely original.

On the technical side, the anodized aluminum construction is still the same here, balancing strength and weight. Each piece features the brand’s pioneering Multiwheel system, which uses ball-bearing mounted wheels with cushioned axles to glide smoothly across various surfaces. The stage-free telescoping handle adjusts seamlessly to any height, while TSA-approved locks get you through security anxiety-free.

Inside, the Flex Divider system continues to prove its worth, compressing packed items while keeping you organized — a feature that becomes more valuable the more you travel.

Three Sizes, One Compelling Vision

Bronze Brown launches across three Original models, each targeting different travel needs. The Cabin (a 21″ carry-on) with 35L of storage handles short trips and business travel, fitting most overhead compartments. Meanwhile, the Check-In L expands to 86L in a 31″ frame, perfect for extended stays where you need more than the basics but don’t want to overpack.

For the largest option, the Trunk Plus stands 31″ tall with 105L of capacity. Its vertical design harks back to the era of steamer trunks while incorporating modern functionality. The upright orientation maximizes packing efficiency and makes accessing items easier than traditional horizontal cases. In Bronze Brown, the Trunk Plus becomes a definite statement piece.

Each model includes the same premium touches like a complimentary leather luggage tag and a Rimowa sticker. Plus, there’s the satisfaction of owning something designed in Germany and produced in Rimowa’s own factories.
