When Nike first introduced the Vomero in 2006, running shoes had never looked so cool. Not only that but enthusiasts, both hard-core distance fans and casual runners, loved how comfortable they felt on their feet and how responsive they were to anything demanded of them. While the series is currently in its 17th iteration today, Nike has decided to give the fans of the heritage models what they wanted with a rerelease of the Zoom Vomero 5, perhaps the most popular version the line has seen.
Timing-wise, the Vomero 5 reissue has never been more perfect. Now more than ever, running and training shoes have crossed into lifestyle footwear. With its finger on the pulse, Nike has brought back the 2010 model with its original design language which was ahead of its time back then. The current silhouette retains the visual complexity of the uppers, which combine layered materials such as textiles, leather, suede, and plastic caging for support. Mesh with TecTuff was added for breathability while the leather brings durability to the shoe. Likewise, there are ventilation ports on the heel.
Despite the edgy aesthetic, the Zoom Vomero 5 is totally versatile when it comes to assembling your day-to-day wardrobe. It’s available in five colorways, including light blue, black, off-white, sand, and black-and-white, and certainly belongs in this current age of footwear but can serve you well as a running shoe too. On your foot, the shoe is as comfortable as ever, benefitting from a foam midsole that boasts Zoom Air cushioning for the same comfort and responsiveness it had all those years ago. For durable traction in your every step, the outsole is made from a grippy rubber that sports the period-correct peg height of the original models as well.
