In 2005, Nike SB collaborated with streetwear label Diamond Supply Co. to deliver the iconic “Tiffany” Dunk. And while few of us could’ve realized it back then, the glimmering blue kicks served as one of the tell-tale signs that the shoe game was bound to change forever. Now, Nike is putting all its Robin eggs in one basket, working alongside the actual Tiffany & Co. to put a high-end spin on the timeless Air Force 1.
Touted as “a legendary pair” by both brands, they have only teased the forthcoming collab using a photo of a Nike shoebox doused in Tiffany’s signature shade of blue. That said, the latter’s URL suggests that it will be a pair of limited-edition AF1s. Having just celebrated the famous silhouette’s 40th anniversary last year, it’s no surprise to see it garner even more recognition en route to turning 50 next decade.
Just last year, we saw Nike link with several major names in the fashion world, with the most notable of the plethora probably being Louis Vuitton for an AF1 collection of its own. Moreover, a joint effort like this goes to show the boundless crossover appeal between streetwear and high fashion nowadays — something that certainly couldn’t be said when the “original” pair of Tiffanys came around.
Additional information regarding Nike’s joint effort with Tiffany is being kept under lock and key. However, anyone hoping to buy what will presumably end up being the year’s hottest shoe can sign up for future updates on Tiffany & Co’s website.
