We love cargo pants as much as the next guy. Invented nearly a century ago for British military personnel, the pocketed trousers maximize utility, providing you with large, secure storage, but have also become a garment with their own distinct style. As iconic as the silhouette is, cargo pants can still be improved upon. Known for pushing the limits of both form and function, Nike has made cargo pants for the new era with its Woven Lined Pants, part of the Sportswear Tech Pack collection.
As you know, most cargo pants inexplicably place the large cargo pockets lower on the leg, right above the knee. However, the Woven Lined Pants from Nike change up the traditional configuration a bit. On the left side, you have two cargo pockets, with the top easily accessible so you don’t have to bend down just to get out your phone or wallet. It also adds a flair of style to the silhouette. For an asymmetrical aesthetic, the right side has a cargo pocket as well, which is placed a little farther above the knee. And of course, you have the standard hand pockets on both sides, as well as a rear pocket on the right side.
Made of lightweight nylon with mesh lining for ventilation, the Tech Pack Woven Lined Pants are incredibly roomy. The waistband is elastic for a flexible fit but you can also thread a belt through the belt loops if you want to elevate the look. Articulated in the knees for freer movement, the straight-cut legs are given elastic cuffs at the bottom with toggle adjusters for a more customizable fit.
Part of Nike’s Move to Zero mission to get to zero carbon and zero waste, the Sportswear Tech Pack Woven Lined Pants were made using sustainable materials. Priced at $155, they’re now available from Nike’s website.
