Debuting in 1983, Nike’s Pegasus running shoe has since become one of the most iconic franchises in the running world. In the 1970s, running as an activity was simply booming and the sneakers offered by other brands had become highly specialized, alienating the everyman runner. Nike aimed to rectify this with a silhouette that blended concepts from its previous models. It took the soles from the Waffle Trainer and the cushioning from the Cortez and wrapped them up into an affordable, versatile package that would be called the Pegasus. Each year since, there’s been about one new Pegasus model per year. And following the Pegasus 41 that came out in April, Nike has now unveiled the EasyOn Blueprint variant.

A few months ago, the much-anticipated Pegasus 41 became the first silhouette in the franchise to feature ReactX foam, thus improving the shoe’s responsiveness. ReactX has an increase in responsiveness of 13% compared to the standard React foam. This is an impressive feat simply because of the Pegasus’ reputation for its responsiveness to begin with. Along with the waffle-inspired rubber outsole, the shoe also boasts dual Air Zoom units within the ReactX which optimizes cushioning and a lighter-weight energy return.

Compared to the standard Pegasus 41, the EasyOn Blueprint version swaps the standard laces with an engineered toggle system for an easily adjustable fit. To enhance the fit even further, Nike added an upgraded breathable mesh upper, a plush collar tongue, and a secure, comfortable sockliner. This shoe will be added to the Blueprint collection, inspired by Nike co-founder Bill Bowerman, featuring a speckled Swoosh logo and sketches of feet on the insole to bring the theming together.

Another benefit of the ReactX is that it reduces carbon emissions by over 43% compared to regular React foam, ultimately helping Nike reach its goal of reducing its carbon footprint by 63% by 2030. Priced at $140, the Pegasus EasyOn Blueprint is now available from Nike’s website.
