The Arc’teryx Kragg Aura Is a Perforated Slip-On Built for Summer Adventures

It’s not surprising to see that Arc’teryx’s foray into footwear has been a success, but is surprising to watch the Kragg go from an approach shoe to travel companion. Originally launched back in 2024 as a climber’s slip-on for quick crag access and post-workout recovery, the silhouette was almost instantly adopted by travelers who wanted something comfortable and stylish from the brand.

Unsurprisingly, Arc’teryx has decided to lean into that theme a bit. And with summer right around the corner, the new Kragg Aura is the warm-weather chapter.

A Climber’s Shoe With a Frequent Flyer Identity

Earlier this year, the release of the Revised Kragg leaned hard into the travel use case with a jacquard upper and a knit pull-tab heel. The Aura is its summer counterpart, designed as a sort of sandal-inspired hybrid slip-on. At first glance, it almost feels like a water shoe.

Maxing Out the Airflow

Of course, the main upgrade here is the upper, swapped to a perforated Matryx construction that’s focused on max ventilation. Matryx is a high-strength woven fabric that’s become quite popular in trail running, so abrasion resistance isn’t an issue despite all the air being let in.

The shoe also shed some weight (each one clocks in at 9oz), and the open-system upper is built to let your feet dry out between burns instead of swimming in their own sweat.

The Kragg DNA Stays Intact

The beloved collapsible heel returns, so you can still stomp it down into mule mode when you’re done climbing (or boarding the plane). The Vibram Megagrip outsole with 2mm lugs is back too, because at its core, it is still a trail shoe. You also get a dual-density INSITE PU midsole and a molded rubber toe cap for when you inevitably kick a rock.
