Nike has historically been a trustworthy brand among both professionals and casual sports fans, outfitting the greats with shoes and apparel that can carry you over the finish line. One particular legend, Michael Jordan, was famously a huge Nike fan, and the duo created arguably the most recognizable silhouette in shoe history, the Air Jordan. But it’s not just basketball that Nike takes seriously, because the label sponsors many other sports and athletes as well, which you can see in the soccer jerseys that they offer. Nike is a sponsor of the Paris Saint-Germain Football Club (or PSG for short), and the duo’s collaborative jerseys are always a hit among fans. But this time around, they’re coming through with something a bit different: The Nike Paris Saint-Germain Jumpman MVP shoes, with a silhouette inspired by classic Air Jordans and the man himself.
Starting with the construction, these kicks are a blend of three iconic Air Jordans that Michael Jordan wore during a legendary run of back-to-back championship wins. Specifically, the Air Jordan 6, 7, and 8 silhouettes were the inspiration for this collaborative effort, with the AJ6 being a major one. The rubber outsole design is very reminiscent of the original Air Jordan 6s, and the embroidered Nike Air heel logo, tongue top, and modified overlay all make direct nods to the AJ6 as well. The semi-bootie lining is a direct reference to the AJ7, and the AJ8 is shown some love with molded heel details.
At the time of writing, the Nike Paris Saint-Germain Jumpman MVP sneakers are only available in the Black, Light Bone, and Magma Orange colorway.
