Now that fall is in full swing, having the proper footwear is essential for staying dry. In the past, that usually meant a pair of boots, but as streetwear and techwear continue to dominate the fashion industry, labels are responding with weatherproof redesigns of classic apparel. Nike has done this before with the Lunar Force 1s, the Swoosh’s take on the iconic hunting shoe, and the result is a rugged sneaker that maintains a streetwear aesthetic while providing protection. And now they’re back with the Nike Air Force 1 ’07 Pro-Techs, a waterproof take on an absolutely classic silhouette, and the perfect pair of sneakers to tackle this fall season.
To maintain that unmistakable Air Force 1 look, Nike opted to waterproof the leather upper instead of using textile or GORE-TEX. Nike also added an embossed swoosh (and other details) to give the silhouette a more subtle look, complemented by the three new monochromatic colorways. Besides that, most of the construction remains the same compared to the OG Air Force 1s: a padded collar, rubber soles, and Nike Air cushioning are all back in action, giving you the support and style the blueprint is known for.
Air Force 1s have a long history that started on the court in the early ‘80s and became especially popular after the lows came out. The silhouette would go on to be championed by the hip-hop scene (where it’s still loved today) and remains one of the most iconic sneakers of all time. It’s also cool to see these new monochromatic colorways, and the Light Silver/Clear/Light Silver one is especially sleek.
