Nike ACG is an OG in not just the outdoor scene, but a true pioneer in fashionable technical apparel. The label’s gear has historically been a favorite among rock climbers, and ACG often uses famous climbing spots as inspiration for its pieces. This time around, the label is looking to Oregon’s Smith Rock State Park and the legendary climbing walls it’s home to for the Nike ACG “Wolf Tree” Polartec fleece.
Using Polartec fleece (sustainably made with at least 75% recycled polyester), you get the lightweight warmth and breathability the material is known for, with a layer-friendly fit that’s looser in the chest and body. There are zippered hand pockets to keep your valuables safe, elastic cuffs and trim for stability and warmth, and elastic around the hood for a tight fit. It’s finished with that classic ACG logo embroidered on the chest and Polartec embroidered on the right sleeve. Also, the recycled polyester used for the Polartec here is sourced from recycled plastic bottles, which are shredded into pellets and then spun into yarn (offsetting carbon emissions by up to 30% compared to virgin polyester).
Considering Nike ACG’s roots in not just the outdoor community but the climbing community as a whole, this piece was inspired by the climbing walls at Oregon’s Smith Rock State Park (which is home to over a thousand climbing routes). In fact, the “Wolf Tree” name comes from a trail along the Crooked River, which sits below some of the most iconic walls in Smith Rock. The overall look of this fleece is also very retro in general, sporting a ‘90s-friendly aesthetic that’s synonymous with some of the best outdoor gear.
