Labels from multiple industries are capitalizing on the popularity of running gear, but dedicated teams like norda are among a collection of truly innovative companies that never fail to impress. As one of the only companies using Bio-Based Dyneema fabric on a hiking shoe’s upper, norda places just as much importance on design as they do on sustainability. Haven is a fellow Canadian compatriot, and curates a collection of premium apparel that’s also inspired by the Canadian landscape. Now, they’ve teamed up with norda to launch the 003, a laceless evolution of norda’s revolutionary trail runners

Returning from the 001 and 002 silhouettes, this updated release features the same Bio-Dyneema material on the upper (AKA “the world’s strongest fiber”), but the duo has ditched the laces and added an elastic version of the fabric, resulting in a more streamlined look. On top of that, the hikers have been lined with a G+ water-resistant membrane with a waterproof rating of 10,000mm, keeping your feet dry and warm. The insole is outfitted with a custom eTPU, providing lightweight cushioning and responsiveness, and a cushioned Vibram midsole adds to the support. Vibram outsoles on the bottom sport a unique design inspired by the Candian Shield rock formation, while ensuring traction on multiple terrains as well.

As for the colorway, you’re getting a blend of monochromatic colors and earth tones with a speckled midsole, and a reflective hi-vis finish to make sure you’re safe while tackling the outdoors. Heel tabs on the back can be used to attach a carabiner for easy storage and transporting, and allows you to clip them to your pack.

The Haven x norda 003 “Quarry” is available now for $325, and they’re recommending customers go up a half size from their regular shoe size.
