adidas has a long history of outfitting champion runners, dating back to the 1936 Summer Olympics, and continues to innovate in the space (particularly with the Adizero drops). In September of 2023, Kenyan runner Agnes Ngetich broke both the women-only 5K and 10K world records during a single race wearing a pair of Adizero Takumi Sen 9s, and now adidas is back with the Adizero Takumi Sen 10s, built for 5-10K races and boasting an updated midsole.

Building off of the Sen 9s, this updated runner is a result of rigorous testing conducted in Kenya and Ethiopia by adidas athletes to make sure the shoes are accurately designed for shorter races (5-10K). It starts with an updated midsole that now features a new version of adidas’ ENERGYRODS 2.0 tech, a propulsion system made partly with recycled glass fiber that’s been redesigned with a “holistic structure” for better heel-to-toe transitions. It’s coupled with two layers of LIGHTSTRIKE PRO foam to enhance cushioning, and the goal here is to utilize the glass fiber’s natural flexibility for tight turns and high-impact races.

The colorway featured here, “Green Spark,” is inspired by the unique neon hue of bioluminescent wildlife, and finished with a gradient stripe going from purple to green on the midsole. These shoes are also part of the Adizero Ekiden Race Pack, a collection previewed and worn by adidas athletes competing in the 100th Ekiden race that happened a few days ago – VP of Design for adidas Running, Moritz Hoellmueller, stated, “Every detail of the Adizero Takumi Sen 10 is built for fast road racing.”
