While many athletic brands can tout stylish shoes or noteworthy collabs, very few can claim Olympic wins and serious technological advancements. If there’s one label that we can safely associate with running greatness, it’s adidas. Since outfitting the legendary Jesse Owens with an Olympic-winning pair of runners in the mid-’30s, adidas has been on the cutting edge of running shoe technology. To get even more technical, adidas launched its Adizero lineup, which features a variety of purpose-built runners that usually receive (and test) the latest running technology from the label. After consulting Olympic and marathon winners like Peres Jepchirchir and Benson Kipruto, adidas created its lightest racing shoe yet: the Adizero Adios Pro Evo 1.

Coming in at 138g, these runners are the lightest racing shoes adidas has ever created (in fact, it’s 40% lighter than any other pair the label has released) and underwent a variety of lab tests to ensure they have improved forward momentum and running economy. The in-house Lightstrike Pro foam technology is lightweight but provides enough energy return for serious athletes, and it works alongside the new outsole construction. This new outsole is designed for optimal traction and is attached to the super lightweight mesh upper. The Adizero sling launch heel lockdown is also making a return, providing a snug yet convenient fit.

At the time of writing, only the White, Black, and Crystal White colorway is available, but we should see some new ones once the shoes are officially released. You can also expect to see these shoes on adidas-sponsored athletes in upcoming marathons, like the Berlin Marathon.
