Though the segment was practically nonexistent only a few years ago, the off-road supercar space has seen a massive influx in popularity as of late, with everyone from Porsche to Lamborghini now offering high-performance go-anywhere models. And after first showing off an off-road supercar concept back in March of 2020, famed Porsche tuner and manufacturer RUF has now announced its officially tossing its hat into the off-road supercar ring with the production version of its all-new RUF Rodeo.
The Basics
Tipping the scales at under 3,000lbs at the curb, the RUF Rodeo is a limited production model that utilizes the famed tuner and OEM’s existing supercar architecture but sees its rear-engined, manual carbon tub setup applied to the creation of a sportscar-based off-roader.
In-House Flat-SIx
At the heart of the Rodeo is RUF’s in-house-developed water-cooled 3.6-liter flat-six engine. Fitted with a twin turbocharger setup, the flat-six cranks out 610hp and 560ft-lbs of torque. The engine comes mated to a six-speed manual transmission paired with RUF’s own variable all-wheel-drive system and limited-slip differentials at both axles.
Hardware & Componentry
Offering a raised ride height of 9.6”, the Rodeo features a fully-adjustable double-wishbone push-rod suspension setup front and rear with electronically adjustable dampers. The Rodeo also comes loaded with an integrated roll cage and a ceramic braking package. The entire thing rides on a set of forged five-arm center-locking wheels shod in bespoke all-terrain tires developed specially for the Rodeo by Goodyear.
Widebodywork
The Rodeo’s carbon tub comes draped in a set of custom widebody-style bodywork complete with integrated scoops flanking the back wheels, a ducktail spoiler, and massively flared fenders that open up space for the off-road supercar’s increased suspension travel and larger all-terrain tires. The body is protected by square-notch bumpers fore and aft, with the rear item also sporting an integrated quad-tipped muffler arrangement. In addition to being fitted with modern flush door handles, the body has also been capped off with a custom set of roof rails.
Southwest-Inspired Cabin
Like all RUF supercars, the Rodeo’s cabin is a bespoke affair born out of a luxurious spare-no-expense approach. Separating it from other RUF cars is its material selection, as the entire cabin has been trimmed in a lightly-grained cowhide leather accented via Navajo-style pattern inserts on the seats, door panels, and dash. Bespoke instrumentation, a carbon-framed steering wheel, and a modern central display completes the interior.
