WIth 2021 marking Royal Enfield’s 120th anniversary, the British-founded, Indian-owned outfit has opted to mark the illustrious occasion via the release of numerous special and limited edition products. And after previously revealing a dozen commemorative moto helmet models, the company has now announced yet another special release marking the occasion with what the brand has dubbed the Royal Enfield 120th Anniversary Limited Edition Twins.
Designed to highlight the long-held build traditions of the brand, RE’s 120th Edition bikes are comprised of limited-edition versions of the moto maker’s Continental GT and Interceptor 650 models. Both motorcycles sport a special black-chrome finish that was first developed at RE’s original Thiruvottiyur plant in Chennai. On top of the striking appearance this finish affords, the construction is also sourced using markedly more sustainable and environmentally friendly techniques.
The 120th Edition Continental GT and Interceptor 650 have also been treated to hand-applied pinstriping that pays homage to RE’s Madras stripes, a special anniversary emblem, a serialized plaque adorning the tank, custom diamond-stitched brown leather saddles with RE logo embroidering, and a matching set of brown grips. What’s more, the two bikes also feature a handcrafted brass tank badge that’s produced by an artisan family in Tamil Nadu, India with multiple generations of experience handmaking brass statues and figures. Further distinguishing the 120th Anniversary Twins from the regular models are a host of factory options that all come standard — and blacked out — on the LE bikes such as a handlebar brace pad, a skid plate, heel guards, and bar-end or touring mirrors.
Both bikes are available now, however, rather than being sold through traditional channels, Royal Enfield’s 120th Editon Twins are being offered through an application and lottery process where interested parties are asked to fill out a registration form that will yield a unique code number that can be used to purchase one of the two motorcycles online — while supplies last. Only 480 units are being produced in total, with 60 Continental GTs and 60 Interceptor 650s each being earmarked for the Indian, European, American, and South-East Asian markets.
