In 2005, Red Bull entered the world of Formula 1 racing, launching both an F1 team and Red Bull Technology Ltd. that same year. Within a half-decade of entering the sport, Red Bull Racing managed to secure its first F1 championship title in 2010 — a feat that the team replicated in 2011, 2012, and 2013. On top of fielding some incredibly talented drivers, the team’s success is largely owed to the state-of-the-art vehicles developed by its in-house engineering department. And after producing a slew of F1 cars, Red Bull Technologies has now announced that it’s working on its first-ever series production model with what’s been dubbed the RB17 Hypercar.
Following the typical naming conventions for the chassis of Red Bull’s Formula 1 racers — such as the RB14, RB15, RB16, and RB18 —the RB17 is a track-only two-seater that’s being designed, engineered, tested, and manufactured entirely in-house. The RB17 is constructed around an advanced carbon-composite tub and is said to feature the most advanced ground effect package that’s ever been available on a series production car. And while Red Bull has yet to describe or show off the RB17’s bodywork, we anticipate a slammed stance and most likely a pronounced aero kit with active/deployable wings and elements.
At the heart of the RB17 is an F1-derived hybrid V8 engine that puts down more than 1,100hp. The purchase of an RB17 doesn’t just include the car, however, as ownership also comes with a slew of factory-backed perks such as access to simulators, track days, training experiences, and a host of other exclusive amenities. The RB17 will also be built by hand in Red Bull’s 290-acre campus in Milton Keynes, England.
Though details are still fairly scant, Red Bull Advanced Technologies has revealed that pricing for the RB17 will be set at £5,000,000 (~ $6,060,875). Production for the RB17 hypercar will also be limited to only 50 units worldwide and is expected to begin in 2025.
