This year marked the 75th anniversary of when Porsche first debuted its inaugural automotive offering with the now-legendary 356. To mark the occasion, the Stuttgart firm opted to pay tribute to the 356 in the form of a modern fully-electric homage known as the Porsche Vision 357 Concept. With the original 356 having famously been available as both a coupe and convertible, Porsche has now decided to bestow the same treatment onto the tribute concept, with the company having just pulling the cover off of the new Porsche Vision 357 Speedster 75th Anniversary Concept.

Utilizing technology from Porsche’s 718 GT4 e-performance, the Vision 357 Speedster is constructed around the same advanced chassis that’s also found in the 718 GT4 Clubsport. Powering this factory-built concept car is the same electric motors and battery technology found in the Porsche Mission R — a dual-motor item sending a collective 1,073hp to the machine’s all-wheel drive setup. Cloaked in a two-tone Grivelo Grey Metallic livery with Miami Blue accents, the exterior of the car boasts a front splitter, side skirts, and an oversized rear diffuser — all of which are crafted from exposed carbon fiber — as well as a set of camera-equipped aero blades that replace the car’s standard mirrors. Neatly integrated into the concept’s bodywork, the 357 Speedster’s lighting is comprised of a 356-inspired four-point light signet out front, while four small swaths of exposed flush LEDs pay homage to the 356’s horizontal taillight design. A third taillight has also been integrated into the concept’s grill design.

Sporting a wide track, the concept rides on a set of 20” magnesium center-locking wheels fitted with carbon fiber aero covers that serve as a subtle nod to the 356’s drum brakes. Crafted almost entirely from carbon fiber, the interior of the concept features a shortened front windshield, and an offset one-sided tonneau cover opposite a carbon fiber race seat that’s been integrated into the vehicle’s monocoque before being fitted with Racetex upholstery and a six-point harness. A modern Porsche steering wheel also sits ahead a bespoke transparent HUD-style display that shows speed, power mode, and a real-time GPS positioning of the concept’s location on a racetrack (in this case; the iconic Nürburgring).

Following its world premiere at the ongoing Goodwood Festival Of Speed, the Porsche Vision 357 Speedster Concept will be on display at this year’s Rennsport Reunion at Laguna Seca in the United States at the end of September.
