Orient Express Unveils the Silenseas, the World’s Largest Sailing Ship

The Orient Express has been enchanting guests for over a century, as the iconic passenger train continues to serve as a testament to keeping things traditional and unapologetically refined. And while the luxurious hospitality company’s famed mode of transportation has set the standard, it is venturing toward the sea, as the Orient Express unveiled the world’s largest sailing ship.

Oozing elements of excellence and elegance, the Silenseas is describes as an “ultra-modern ship that will revolutionize the maritime world with new technology,” which doesn’t surprise us considering O.E. already managed to change how the entire world views a typical train. Unsurprisingly, the thoughtfully-designed vessel is expected to offer top-of-the-line service and a decedent getaway. Moreover, the ship takes inspiration from the Golden Age of the French Riviera, as it intends to evoke the though of movie stars, artists, and other creatives making their way through Monte Carlo, St. Tropez, and Cannes.

As far as capabilities are concerned, the ship boasts a state-of-the-art 1,500 square-meter unit wind propulsion system that will majorly assist in its propulsion. Moreover, this is met by a hybrid propulsion system that runs on liquified gas, paving the way for eco-friendly operation and game-changing design methods. This innovative system is courtesy of Chantiers de l’Atlantique, a French shipyard who O.E. partnered with to craft the Silenseas.

Expected to set sail in 2026, the Silenseas is unlike anything we’ve ever seen, and you can get a better look on the Orient Express’s website.
