Premium Mercedes-Benz Models Are Now Compatible with Apple Music’s Spatial Audio Tech

Working alongside Apple Music and Universal Music Group, Mercedes-Benz has unveiled a groundbreaking sound system that will bring Dolby Atmos on your next car ride.

Achieving this unrivaled soundscape is possible thanks to the three-pointed star’s optional Burmester 4D sound system. It’s comprised of 31 total speakers that include six 3D speakers, a 14.5-liter subwoofer, and two sound transducers per seat. As a piece of trivia, Apple mentions that the Mercedes-Maybach by Virgil Abloh was one of the first-ever cars to feature the high-end sound system.

However, current subscribers and drivers received immediate access to the streaming platform’s expensive library of singles and albums available in Spatial Audio. Consequently, Apple Music has even wheeled out a ‘Driving in Spatial Audio’ playlist to make the most of this sound-defying collaboration. To no surprise, this is the first time Apple’s signature spatial audio with Dolby Atmos tech will be compatible with non-Apple devices. Moreover, Benz owners can account for eligible songs by seeking the ‘Approved in a Mercedes-Benz’ qualifier.

Apple Music with Spatial Audio will be implemented into Mercedes-Maybach models, both configurations of the EQS, in addition to the entire S-Class lineup and the newly unveiled EQE SUV. Learn more about the new-age technology on Mercedes-Benz’s website; don’t worry, though, because Apple has stated it will be feasible on other non-Mercedes cars soon enough.
