Looking like nothing else currently out on the road, Tesla first unveiled its wildly idiosyncratic Cybertruck back in November of 2019. Since that time, the divisive, retro-futuristic design has garnered an enormous amount of attention, from both inside and outside the automotive realm. This has ultimately given way to an ever-growing slew of Cybertruck toys and novelties from scale models to RC car versions of the Tesla pickup. And now, nearly two years after the truck’s initial debut, Mattel Creations has set its sights on the model, partnering with MEGA to deliver a LEGO-style Cybertruck kit.
Made up of more than 3,000 pieces, the MEGA x Cybertruck kit is by no means a scale model, though it nonetheless boasts some wildly impressive lifelike details, as well as a slew of functional elements. This includes mini versions of the electric truck’s 35″ seven-arm aero-disc wheels, which are linked to an actual working adjustable air suspension system. Other noteworthy details include a sharp-angled exoskeleton and armored glass windows that can be lowered and raised, and come adorned in spiderwebbed glass stickers — a tongue-in-cheek nod to Tesla founder Elon Musk’s less-than-successful steel ball window test from the truck’s reveal in 2019. The kit also sports a sliding, angled tonneau cover that opens to reveal the high-performance pickup’s bed, as well as a functioning tailgate with a working integrated ramp. Even the interior of the Cybertruck has been accurately recreated for the kit.
The Mattel Creations MEGA x Tesla Cybertruck is scheduled for release on the morning of October 15, with pricing set at $250. The Mattel Creations website is also giving potential customers the chance to view the MEGA x Cybertruck via a virtual AR Experience.
