With ultra-potent powertrains backed by state-of-the-art electric motors, the most advanced aero kits in the world, and a curb weight comparable to that of a Miata, modern Le Mans Daytona Hypercar (or LMdH) class racers unequivocally represented the most cutting-edge and high-performance automobiles in existence. And while exceedingly few individuals will ever be lucky enough to own or drive one of these hybrid endurance racers, LEGO is now offering the motoring public the next best thing in the form of a new model of the LEGO Technic Peugeot 9X8 24H Le Mans Hybrid Hypercar racer.
Measuring 5.11” H x 19.68” L x 8.66” W, this 1:10 scale automotive LEGO Technic model is comprised of some 1,775-pieces. At this scale, the team at LEGO has managed to recreate a surprisingly lifelike take on the 9X8. On top of a full aero-kitted body, the model features numerous functional elements such as working front and rear suspensions, open and closeable doors, and a functioning steering wheel. The realistic details on this LEGO car kit don’t end there, however.
Even more impressive is this LEGO model’s engine. This mid-mounted replica of the LMdH racer’s 671-hp twin-turbo hybrid 2.6-liter V6 engine features an actual battery-fed electric motor that’s connected to the model’s model’s rear wheels. Alongside boasting the LMdH racer’s livery graphics and Peugeot and sponsor logos, the kit also comes loaded with numerous glow-in-the-dark elements including the 9X8’s vertical headlight setup. In typical LEGO Technic fashion, this model also rides on a set of custom wheels that come wrapped in actual rubber tires.
Available for order starting May 1, 2023, the LEGO Peugeot 9X8 24H Le Mans Hybrid Hypercar has been priced at $200.
