Earlier this year, Hyundai unveiled a beautifully redesigned one-off concept of their symbolic Pony. While the original ’70s classic was not sold in the states, its EV-powertrain-powered restomod surely made for big headlines. Now, moving on with their spectacularly sleek Heritage collection, the South Korean manufacturer has shown off a similar take on their ’80s Grandeur Sedan labeled the “Heritage Series Grandeur,” and it’s simply out-of-this-world.
Initially serving as Hyundai’s flagship model, they’ve managed to transform this Grandeur into what resembles KITT from Knight Rider had it been envisioned for the modern era. Maintaining its classic, boxy shape, the Heritage Series Grandeur features a plethora of cube LED lights that come together to make for its headlights and taillights. While its exterior is truly a thing of beauty, with its futuristic-looking wheels and redesigned grille, the restomod’s interior stands out even more. Padded with red velvet seat upholstery, resurfaced black leather doors, and gleaming amber light strips paneling the sides, its interior is truly something out of a 1980s nightclub. On top of that, they’ve modernized it with a pair of displays, as a very lengthy horizontal screen takes up the dash while a smaller vertical display sits in the center console. Above all else, the latest restomod runs on an EV-powertrain, akin to their aforementioned spin on the Pony, as expected.
Having taken eight months to construct, every detail that went into this concept surely doesn’t go unnoticed. The retro style exuded through luxurious modern materials and sources of energy is truly something to behold — now if only Hyundai would sell this thing for real.
