Back in 2020, ebike outfit CAKE announced that it had entered a strategic partnership with Volvo-owned EV outfit Polestar that would see the Swedish marque’s two-wheelers sold at Polestar’s showrooms. And to further solidify this partnership, the two electric vehicle companies rolled out a limited edition version of the CAKE Makka back in 2021 — a feat the two are repeating for the end of the 2022 year with the second Polestar edition CAKE Makka.
Based on the Makka flex, the Polestar edition Makka comes cloaked in a sky blue livery borrowed from the electric carmaker’s Polestar 6 roadster concept. The limited edition also gets a host of additional unique style elements such as unique black detailing and trim, and special CAKE and Polestar branding on the swing-arm. The standard Makka’s flex’s seat has also been replaced with a special rectangular saddle with an adjustable height.
Thanks to a rear tow mount and an auxiliary charging port, the Makka can not only be carried by a Polestar 2 car, but can also be charged by one while being transported (or while parked). The Polestar edition retains the same performance and specs as the standard version of the bike, with a 2.8-kW powertrain that offers a 28-mph top speed and a 34-mile range – all while weighing only 154lbs. Other highlights include a top-shelf Öhlins mono-shock, an included rear luggage rack, and floor boards.
Available for order now, the new CAKE Makka Polestar edition has been priced at €5,300 (~ $5,600). Thus far, the Polestar edition Makka is limited to the Swedish, German, Norwegian, UK, and Dutch markets, though further markets will follow.
