Founded in 2019, Bhushan Powar Design is an award-winning design firm that specializes in penning architectural concepts, yachts, and motorcycles. Representing India’s first and only luxury yacht design studio, BPD is run by a team of young staffers that aren’t afraid to take risks or deliver outside-the-box ideas — a fact evidenced by the firm’s latest project, a ~360’ superyacht concept known as “ZION.”
The bottom half of the superyacht takes influence from modern military vessels while the upper portion of the 110-meter ship features a giant squid-like split-level design with a hidden wheelhouse at the front, an open deck overlooking a beach club at the stern, and a large, multi-story spherical glass observation deck sitting midship that was inspired by black holes. Accessible via glass column elevator, the upper deck of the yacht also sports a 39’ helipad, a glass-bottom infinity pool, and a main dining area, while the lower deck boasts a gym, a garden, an expandable beach club, and a massive garage for accomodating tender boats, jet skis, and other toys.
In addition to the spherical glass observation area, the inside of the ship is just as well-appointed, featuring room for up to 20 guests thanks to ten generously-sized staterooms plus accommodations for just as many staff and crew. While it would obviously cost a fortune to produce, we have routinely seen super, mega, and gigayacht projects costing well into the hundreds of millions — if not billions — territory actually come to fruition, though ZION was created simply as a design exercise.
All in all, in addition to being incredibly unique, the ZION concept also allows BPD’s design team to flex both its architectural and ship-designing muscles. And, with BPD having already accomplished so much in its first few years of operation, we anticipate a bright future for the fledgling firm.
