Headquartered out of a 5,000-sq-ft warehouse on the outskirts of Bristol, Alfaholics is a world-renowned restomod and restoration shop that exclusively wrenches on vintage Alfa Romeo models. The multigenerational, family-run shop offers a wide range of services and builds, though its top-of-the-line, flagship offering is undoubtedly Alfaholics’ GTA-R — or “R-type.” Touted as the “ultimate evolution of the Alfa Romeo 105 Series,” the GTA-R is made on a bespoke, built-to-order basis and sees each specimen thoroughly modernized over the more than 3,000 hours that go into each project.

Due to the wildly elite and exclusive nature of Alfaholics’ builds, the shop currently has an extensive waiting list for customers seeking new commissions. In an unexpected turn of events, one lucky individual is now being given the opportunity to jump the line and acquire their own R-type, as a 1974 GTV 2000 built to GTA-R-Specification has just come up for auction. Originally costing over $240,000, the build began with a complete teardown and restoration of the donor, before being built back up with a slew of Alfaholics-specific hardware and running gear including six-piston staggered-bore front calipers, alloy GTA-style wheels, and Alfaholics’ GTA-R Superleggera suspension package that boasts titanium hubs, hardware, and upper and lower control arms.

Powering the car is a fuel-injected 2.1-liter Nord inline-four engine that’s been rebuilt by Alfaholics and is now good for 230hp. Mated to a rebuilt five-speed manual transmission, the four-banger has also received an Alfaholics stainless-steel exhaust system, MoTeC engine management, an upgraded cooling system, Jenvey Heritage individual throttle bodies, a CNC-machined billet flywheel, a billet aluminum clutch plate, a limited-slip differential, and titanium axle tubes. Adorned in a classic Rosso Red livery, the exterior of the GTA-R has been bestowed with carbon-fiber hood and trunk panels, custom mesh grilles, lightweight glass, a heated windshield, a polycarbonate rear window, LED headlights, hood and trunk pins, and bumper deletes front and aft.
