Alpha Motors’ Montage Is a ’40s-Inspired Ride with a Powerful EV Engine

From its ‘60s-inspired ACE roadster to its adventure-ready utility vehicle REX, Alpha Motors has been doing some interesting things in the EV space these past few years, regardless of the fact that we haven’t seen a single physical production of one of its cars as of yet.

However, when the California-based startup does bring one of its impressive vehicles to market, the recently-revealed Montage is easily towards the top of that wishlist. Paying homage to War-era vehicles of the 1940s, the battery-powered EV is built to make the driver feel like he’s in a car with a combustion engine, although the optional custom-built Electric Drive Unit is expected to provide 2,460lb.ft of torque, 150kW of power, and a 250-mile range.

Coated in “Time Machine” silver paint, the teardrop-shaped body is given fender blisters on the side and chrome ornamentations. Inside the two-door vehicle are modern touches that would feel anachronistic if they weren’t so luxurious, such as full-grain leather seats from Spinneybeck, a digital speedometer, an onboard charger, and a high-end speaker system.

Available as a custom-built private sale vehicle, the Montage will see limited production in the U.S. If you’re interested, you can apply for ownership on Alpha Motors’ website, but make sure you have a cool $499,000 in your pocket.
