If you’ve been following the EV space, you know solid-state batteries have been the industry’s white whale for years — Toyota, QuantumScape, and others have been teasing the tech with timelines that keep delaying further into the future. So when a relatively small Finnish manufacturer claims they’ve beaten everyone to market, there’s some understandable skepticism. But Verge Motorcycles’ track record speaks for itself. Since launching in 2018, they’ve opened flagship stores in Monaco and California, partnered with F1 legends Mika Häkkinen and Valtteri Bottas, and even set a Guinness World Record for electric motorcycle range.

This year at CES, Verge has announced that its TS Pro electric motorcycle is headed to production with solid-state batteries. This is a true game-changer.

Battery Tech That Actually Delivers

The updated TS Pro now comes with two battery options, both featuring solid-state technology developed by Donut Lab (Verge’s tech partner and subsidiary). The standard 20.2 kWh pack delivers 217 miles of range, while the extended 33.3 kWh version pushes that to an incredible 370 miles on a single charge. More impressive is you can add 186 miles of range in just ten minutes of fast charging. Compared to conventional lithium-ion packs that typically max out around 5,000 cycles, Verge’s solid-state battery is rated for 100,000 cycles, essentially lasting the lifetime of the bike.

The solid electrolyte also eliminates fire risk and operates stably across extreme temperatures, from -22°F to 212°F. No more range anxiety on cold days.

The Donut 2.0 Motor Evolution

While the battery tech is stealing the headlines, Verge also upgraded the TS Pro’s signature hubless motor. The Donut 2.0 is 50% lighter than its predecessor while maintaining the same 737 lb.ft of torque output. That weight reduction translates to better efficiency, improved handling, and enhanced stability. The bike still rockets from 0-60 in 3.5 seconds with a top speed of 124 mph.

The hubless design itself remains a conversation starter. With 120 fewer parts than conventional motorcycles and direct drive to the rear wheel, the setup provides superior road-position sensing and control.
