Royal Enfield has been riding Himalayan roads since the 1950s. But in 2016, the company formalized that legacy with its first purpose-built adventure bike. Eight years later, the second-generation Himalayan 450 arrived and immediately redefined what an entry-level ADV should be.
Late last year, the Indian brand unveiled the Mana Black Edition of that bike, delivering a factory-spec’d, rally-ready variant. However, it had only been available in Europe and Australia. Now, it’s finally available at U.S. dealerships.

Mana Pass or Bust
The Mana Pass sits at 18,478 feet above sea level in the Indian Himalayas, a route that demands quite a lot from a bike and its rider. Royal Enfield drew on that spirit to develop a version of the Himalayan that arrives showroom-ready for exactly that kind of use with no aftermarket shopping required.

Out of the crate, you’re getting Black Rally hand guards protecting your levers and hands from gravel and low branches, a Black Rally dual seat (33.9″) that prioritizes comfort for the rider, a rally mudguard for added protection, and tubeless spoked wheels. The whole package is finished in a deep stealth black with subtle matte detailing and camouflage accents on the tank and side covers.

The Sherpa Still Carries the Weight
None of the above changes what’s underneath. You still get the 452cc liquid-cooled, DOHC single-cylinder Sherpa engine which continues to be one of the more impressive powerplants at this price. It puts out a very usable 40 hp at 8,000 rpm and 29.5 lb-ft of torque at 5,500 rpm, channeled through a six-speed gearbox with a slip-and-assist clutch. It boasts ride-by-wire with four rider modes to give you real-time tunability for different surfaces, and switchable dual-channel ABS to dial back traction intervention.

A 43mm inverted Showa fork and linkage-type monoshock each provide 200mm of travel front and rear, while 9″ of ground clearance and a 21-inch front wheel round out the off-road capabilities. Curb weight comes in at 430lbs with a 17-liter tank. The bike also packs Royal Enfield’s circular Tripper Dash with Google Maps integration, a USB-C charging port, and LED lighting throughout.
