Since 2015, the Special Vehicle Operations team has been building the SV lineup into Range Rover’s flagship tier, starting with the Sport SVR and expanding through the SV Autobiography and limited editions like the SV Coupé. Each iteration pushed further into exclusivity and bespoke craftsmanship.
The SV Black continues that trajectory, taking the standard SV’s already elevated specification and distilling it into a monochromatic study of design purity. Announced back in July, this dark variant has now been fully unveiled and is confirmed to be getting a North American release as well.

A Study in Monochrome
Where the standard SV typically features bronze-tone accents for contrast, the SV Black strips all that away. The polished Gloss Black mesh grille sits beneath matching bonnet lettering, while 23-inch alloy wheels and brake calipers get the same treatment — the calipers featuring darker branding for the first time. Even the rear SV roundel is rendered in black ceramic.
Range Rover debuted the SV Black at Design Miami this past weekend with an installation inspired by Mies van der Rohe’s Seagram Building, which postulates that black transforms how you perceive volume, proportion, and surface.

Tactile Luxury Inside
The cabin mirrors the exterior’s commitment to black. Featuring single-panel construction, the seats are covered with Near Aniline Ebony leather with graduated rectangle perforations. It’s a new approach that reduces visible seams for a cleaner finish. Black birch veneers provide subtle texture across the dash and doors, while the gear shifter gets finished in satin black ceramic. Moonlight Chrome detailing extends to more components than previous SV models, adding just enough visual contrast without breaking the monochromatic aesthetic.
The real innovation here is the Sensory Floor system, which builds on Range Rover’s Body and Soul Seat technology. For the first time, haptic feedback runs through the floor mats in addition to the seats, creating a full-body audio experience where you physically feel the music. It’s available across the SV range but comes standard on the Black.

The Numbers
Mechanically, the SV Black matches the standard SV. That means a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 producing 607hp and 553lb.ft of torque, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Likewise, the 0-60 sprint is done in 4.3 seconds, which is quick enough to keep pace with a Porsche Cayenne S Coupe.
