Porsche’s First Electric Cayenne Hits 60 in 2.4 Seconds (And Yes, That’s Faster Than the Turbo GT)

Twenty-three years after the original Cayenne shocked purists and saved Porsche’s bottom line, the nameplate is going electric. Not replacing the gas-powered version, mind you, but the 2026 Cayenne Electric joins the existing combustion and plug-in hybrid models in what’s become the brand’s most successful product line. For Porsche, this is a continuation of the gamble that started in 2002 when they built an entire factory in Leipzig to produce what was then their first four-door vehicle and first SUV since they stopped making tractors in the 1950s. Oh yeah, and the new Turbo version has quite the surprise up its sleeve.

Ridiculous Power Figures

So we don’t bury the lede, the Cayenne Turbo Electric makes 1,139hp when you activate Launch Control. It’s officially the most powerful production Porsche ever built, eclipsing everything that’s come before it. It has a 0-to-60 sprint of just 2.4 seconds, with the quarter-mile time of 9.9 seconds. For context, the previous fastest Cayenne, the Turbo GT with its twin-turbo V8, needed 2.8 seconds to hit 60. The electric version features direct oil cooling on the rear motor — a motorsport-derived trick that keeps output high during extended track time. In normal driving mode, you get 844 hp, but there’s a Push-to-Pass button that unleashes an additional 173 hp for 10-second bursts. Vin Diesel would be proud.

The base Cayenne Electric takes a more measured approach with 435 hp (when Launch Control is engaged) and a 4.5-second sprint to 60 mph. That’s roughly equivalent to the gas-powered Cayenne S, which isn’t exactly slow.

The Battery & Charging Situation

Both models use a 113 kWh battery pack with 800-volt architecture. Under ideal conditions, you can charge at up to 400 kW, pushing the state of charge from 10 to 80 percent in under 16 minutes. The Cayenne Electric also debuts Porsche’s first wireless charging system for the U.S. market — an 11 kW inductive pad you park over that starts charging automatically. There’s a J3400 (NACS) DC fast-charging port on the driver’s side and a J1772 AC port on the passenger side, plus a CCS adapter comes standard.

Porsche Playing It Smart

In terms of styling, Porsche kept the proportions that made the Cayenne recognizable but sharpened everything up. The hood sits lower now, paired with slimmer Matrix LED headlights that emphasize the vehicle’s width. Those strongly contoured front fenders and flyline continue the design language of the brand.

The side profile gets frameless doors and a pronounced crease running through the door surface, while the rear showcases a 3D light strip with animated graphics and illuminated Porsche lettering. Meanwhile, the Turbo Electric distinguishes itself with Turbonite accents (Porsche’s exclusive gray tone) on the crests, wheel faces, and side window trims.

What’s most impressive is the aerodynamics. A drag coefficient of 0.25 makes this one of the slipperiest SUVs in its segment. Porsche achieved this through active aerodynamics such as movable cooling flaps up front, an adaptive roof spoiler, and, on the Turbo, retractable aero blades at the rear that deploy above 40 mph. The whole package sits about an inch lower than the gas-powered Cayenne but is nearly five inches longer in the wheelbase, which translates to noticeably more rear legroom inside.
