Jeep’s rolling out a new special edition Wrangler every month for the next year as part of its 85th anniversary celebration, and December’s drop is the Whitecap — a throwback to one of the brand’s most distinctive styling choices from the CJ era. While November gave us the Moab 392 in all its purple glory, this one takes a more classic approach with a two-tone look that takes vintage CJ vibes off-roading.

Heritage in White
The Whitecap draws direct inspiration from the CJ-5 Universal Jeeps that rolled off Willys’ production lines between 1954 and 1983. Back then, the Arctic White hardtop wasn’t just about aesthetics — it served a practical purpose in cold-weather climates, helping reflect sunlight and making vehicles easier to spot in snow-covered terrain. That white-topped look became iconic, and Jeep’s bringing it forward on the modern JL platform.

What you’re getting here is a Bright White painted hardtop, matching seven-slot grille surround, body-color fender flares (standard on Sahara, optional on Rubicon), and “1941” side stripe decals that nod to Jeep’s military origins. Rubicon models also get a Bright White hood decal. There’s even an optional Sky One-Touch power soft top in Bright White if you prefer a convertible but still want to maintain the aesthetic.

What’s Underneath
The Whitecap package doesn’t mess with what makes a Wrangler a Wrangler. Available exclusively on Sahara and Rubicon trims, you’ve still got your choice between the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder (270 hp) or the 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 (285 hp). Both come mated to Jeep’s Selec-Trac transfer cases — either part-time or full-time depending on your preference — and all the off-road capability you’d expect from these trims remains intact.
