Back in November, Ford teased an uber-capable Super Duty version of its Ranger for the 2026 model year. Promising to be a “new mid-size truck that can do things no other mid-size truck can do,” the heavy-duty pickup has now officially been revealed, but it won’t be available in the U.S., at least for now.

Larger and In Charger

With already best-in-class towing capacity, the latest Ranger model is a fan-favorite for its versatility, power, and off-road capability. It’s a mid-size machine that just got better with this latest offshoot.

Developed in collaboration with fleet customers, the vehicle is much larger than the standard version, equipped with a wider track, flared fenders, and large wing mirrors. And according to Ford’s press release, “the new rear differential is the biggest and strongest to ever be fitted to a production Ranger.”

Available in Single, Super, and Double Cab Chassis, the Super Duty has significantly increased its max tow capacity from 7,716lbs to 9,921lbs. The extra capability is in part thanks to a thicker frame and reinforced suspension mounts, box mount brackets, and tow bar mounts. It’s all supplemented with a recalibrated integrated trailer brake controller, Pro-Trailer Backup Assist for backing up, and a yaw rate sensor for automatically managing the trailer angle.

Stronger But Also Smarter

The Super Duty also debuts two new features from Ford. First is the company’s Smart Hitch for recognizing and helping you adjust your trailer’s load for better distribution. Also, there’s the new Onboard Scales for estimating your truck’s payload in real time, thanks to sensors mounted in the suspension on all four heels.

Getting You Farther

Riding on 33-inch General Grabber all-terrain tires, the Super Duty is designed for venturing farther off the beaten path, boasting a sealed snorkel for crossing waterways, front and rear differential locks, high-mounted fuel and transfer case breathers, a frame-mounted steel bumper in front, a front bash plate, and a 34-gallon long-range fuel tank. There are also six driving modes to choose from: Normal, Eco, Tow/Haul, Mud/Ruts, Sand, and Rock Crawl.

Lastly, with standard four-wheel drive, the Super Duty features the same powertrain as the Raptor trim. That means a 3.0L turbo-diesel V6 with 405hp and 430lb.ft of torque.
