Back in 1993, Ducati was circling the drain financially when designer Miguel Angel Galluzzi threw together some leftover parts — a 900SS engine, an 851 superbike trellis frame — and created something beautiful in its simplicity. The Monster wasn’t just another motorcycle. It became the bike that saved Ducati, selling over 250,000 units across three decades and establishing the naked roadster blueprint that every manufacturer would eventually chase. For 2026, the fifth-generation Monster continues that legacy with a fresh heart and sharper reflexes.

The New V2 Engine

At the core of this update is Ducati’s latest 890cc V2 twin — lighter, cleaner, and more sophisticated than the outgoing 937cc Testastretta Evoluzione. Dropping nearly 13lbs off the previous engine, the new powerplant integrates Intake Variable Timing for the first time in a Monster, delivering 110.7hp and 67lb.ft of torque across a remarkably broad and exploitable power band. More than 80% of peak torque lives between 4,000 and 10,000 rpm, which translates to strong midrange punch. The engine also serves as a structural member in the aluminum monocoque frame — a Monster tradition — keeping the overall design tight and the weight down to just 386lbs wet.

Design That Honors Its Roots

The Monster’s signature three-arch flyline remains intact while incorporating modern touches throughout. The new headlight features a robotic double-C design borrowed from the Panigale V4, and the muscular tank features air vents reminiscent of the second-generation Monster. The technopolymer rear subframe creates a striking contrast against the visible steel trellis, and textured side panels improve grip during aggressive braking.

Accessible Performance

Ducati hasn’t forgotten the Monster’s original mission: to be intuitive and approachable. The 32.1-inch seat height can drop to 30.5″ with accessories, and the narrower seat-tank junction helps riders plant their feet confidently. Higher, more forward handlebars offer improved ergonomics, while Showa suspension helps bring more versatility. Meanwhile, Brembo M4.32 radial calipers and 320mm discs provide serious stopping power. The electronics package includes four riding modes, cornering ABS, traction control, wheelie control, and Ducati Quick Shift 2.0 — all managed through a new 5-inch TFT display.
