Chevy’s 1,250HP Corvette Brings Back Factory Matte Silver Paint for the First Time in Decades with a $240k Limited Edition

Back in June, we covered the Corvette ZR1X announcement that broke the internet — as it should have. It was Chevy unveiling the fastest, most powerful Corvette ever, turning the already-impressive ZR1 into a hybrid hypercar with 1,250hp by adding a front-axle electric motor. We figured the vehicle would be somewhat north of $200k, and now our suspicions are delightfully confirmed. But not only is this American hypercar a couple million less than your overseas hypercars like (as GM would like to point out) the Ferrari F80 or Mclaren W1 but there’s also a new limited-edition variant wielding an old-school matte silver coat.

The Return of Factory Matte

Chevy’s decision to bring back matte paint is a deliberate nod to collectors who remember when Corvettes weren’t afraid to be different. The Blade Silver Matte finish on this Quail Silver Limited Edition marks the first time since the 1960s that you could order a ‘Vette with factory matte paint. It’s inspired by the Inca Silver offered on the C1 produced from 1957 to 1959, though this modern interpretation carries significantly more visual aggression.

Unlike the glossy finishes dominating today’s hypercar landscape, this matte treatment gives the ZR1X an almost industrial presence that plays well against the car’s technical prowess. Orange brake calipers peek through the wheels, while Carbon Flash mirrors and black exhaust tips complete the aesthetic without overdoing it. The interior continues the theme with Sky Cool and Medium Ash Gray upholstery accented by Habanero details — a color combination that’ll be available across the 2026 Corvette lineup.

Hypercar Territory at Sports Car Prices

The standard ZR1X pricing starts at $207,395 for the 1LZ coupe, which puts 1,250 combined horsepower within reach of buyers who might have been eyeing a base Lamborghini or McLaren. The Quail Silver Limited Edition commands $241,395, exclusively available in the 3LZ convertible body style. But despite being the most expensive factory Corvette ever, it’s delivering hypercar performance at at least one-tenth the price of its European competitors.

Under the hood, the LT7 twin-turbo V8 produces 1,064hp on its own, while the front electric motor adds another 186hp. The result is a sub-two-second 0-60 time and a 233mph top speed — figures that would have been pure fantasy in American production cars just a decade ago. The sophisticated eAWD system has been calibrated to deliver simultaneous longitudinal and lateral acceleration, meaning you can pull serious g-forces while cornering and accelerating at the same time.

Limited Edition Exclusivity

Being exclusive comes naturally when you’re producing fewer than 100 units of anything, and the Quail Silver Limited Edition embraces that scarcity. Each car gets a numbered plaque mounted on the waterfall speaker, and buyers can still option the ZTK Performance Package for track-focused upgrades including stiffer springs, modified chassis calibrations, the Carbon Fiber Aero Package, and Michelin Pilot Cup 2R tires.

The car’s name comes from its debut at The Quail gathering held during this year’s Monterey Car Week (and the fact that it’s silver, obviously).
