Though Cadillac has been known for producing bonafide luxury vehicles for well-over a century, the notion of the American marque’s cars being comparable to its European-made counterparts in terms of performance would have probably sounded laughable only a decade ago. In more recent times, however, the Wreath and Crest company has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that its V-Series lineup is more than capable of going toe-to-toe with Mercedes’ AMG class and BMW’s M vehicles. For proof of this, look no further than the newly-redesigned 2025 Cadillac CT5-V and CT5-V Blackwing.

Released coinciding the 20th anniversary of the marque’s V-Series range, the 2025 model year CT5-V builds on the fourth-generation car, gaining a heavily-revised grille and front fascia with a lower, wider, and all-around more aggressive-looking design. The new model also boasts an updated take on Cadillac’s signature stacked vertical headlamp arrangement and a sporty quad trapezoid exhaust tip setup. At the heart of the V-Series CT5 is a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 cranking out 360hp and 405ftlbs of torque — allowing for 0-60mph runs in 4.8 seconds. The top-of-the-line CT5-V Blackwing packs an even more powerful supercharged 6.2-liter V8 that makes a whopping 668hp and 659ft-bs of torque — translating to a 3.6-second 0-60mph time. Both come paired with a ten-speed automatic transmission with Electronic Precision Shift, though the V8 is also offered with an optional six-speed manual. Good for speeds exceeding 200mph, the Blackwing model also comes standard with a carbon fiber aero and trim package.

Another major part of what makes these V-Series models so special is the cars’ bevy of performance and track-focused tech. The CT5-V and CT5-V Blackwing are offered with an onboard track database, a head-up display, an in-vehicle Performance Data Recorder, a Lap Analyzer tool, and a Speed Tips tool that can automatically highlight the driver’s most significant opportunities to shave time off of their laps — a feature that includes both sector analysis and side-by-side video playback. What’s more, in addition to Brembo brakes with available cross-drilled carbon-ceramic rotors, both of these mid-sized performance sedans also come loaded with an advanced suspension setup with a MacPherson-type front-end and a coil spring-equipped five-link independent rear-end — both of which benefit from the use of Magnetic Ride Control 4.0.
