This year is already shaping up to be a big one for Aston Martin. Last month, it unveiled its newly redesigned V12 engine while bidding adieu to the previous platform, and back in February, the British marque announced its most powerful Vantage supercar yet. That’s not to mention the F1-derived Valhalla hybrid supercar that debuted towards the end of 2023.

Now, Aston Martin has pulled the cover off its latest race-ready V12 version of the Valour, and it’s dubbed the Valiant. Here’s everything you need to know…

Is That a Manual Transmission?

While most car brands are shifting, or have already shifted, away from manual transmissions (Ferrari, McLaren, and Lamborghini haven’t made manual cars in a decade or longer), Aston Martin is helping stick shifts alive. For the Valiant, which is still road-legal, this comes in the way of a twin-turbo 5.3L V12 engine with a six-speed transmission. Just like the Valour, this hypercar’s powertrain delivers 734hp and 553lb.ft of torque.

What Makes This a Track Car?

Made at the behest of F1 driver Fernando Alonso, who wanted a track-focused, more agile version of the Valour after having spent time with the road car. In terms of similarities to the Valour, the Valiant is not far off. However, this vehicle has features such as a rear deck spoiler stemming from the tall flared fenders. Debuting in matte gold on top of the carbon fiber body, the Valiant also boasts titanium exhaust pipes celebrating the maintained combustion engine of the car.

You also get broad side sills, upswept vortex generators on the rear wheels to reduce turbulence, drag, and lift, scalloped side fenders, and carbon fiber aero discs on the 21-inch magnesium wheels inspired by wheel covers on the 1980 RHAM/1 “Muncher” Le Mans racer. Meanwhile, the aerodynamics and wings recall the DB series of the ‘70s and ‘80s. Helping the tire contact on the track are Multimatic adaptive spool-valve dampers.

It’s also important to note that Aston Martin resorted to the previous infotainment system for the car rather than the updated version used in the company’s current production lineup. The gold color has also been added to the interior seats.
