EarthRoamer has been the final boss of American overlanding since 1998, and their rigs tend to hold value like a good high-end watch. Case in point, the brand’s Certified PreRoamed program just listed SX-009. It’s a 2023 XV-SX showing 8,228 miles and still wearing a staggering $1.1 million price tag.
That’s above the $995,000 base sticker the SX launched with back in 2022. Three years and 8,000 miles later, and the number went up.
Silverado Bones, Duramax Heart
Underneath all that gray composite sits a Chevy Silverado 6500HD, the first Chevy platform EarthRoamer ever built on when the SX debuted. Power comes from a 6.6-liter Duramax turbo-diesel V8 paired with an Allison 6-speed automatic, good for 350 horsepower and a stump-yanking 700 lb-ft of torque.
The body itself is vacuum-infused carbon fiber, which is a sentence we usually reserve for supercars. And because getting stuck 40 miles from pavement in a seven-figure truck is a bad look, SX-009 packs Warn winches at both ends, a FLIR infrared camera for spotting trouble in the dark, and a GOST security system watching over the whole operation.
The Mount Princeton Treatment
Step inside and the expedition-truck aesthetic gives way to Woodland Timber Oak cabinetry laid out in EarthRoamer’s Mount Princeton floor plan. The galley gets a two-burner induction cooktop, a 12-piece set of nesting cookware, and custom quiet-ride storage organizers so your dinnerware isn’t rattling itself to death on the trail.
There’s also a washer-dryer combo tucked into the cabinetry, a proper dry bath with a standup shower, and an elevated sleeping area up top. Out back, a slide-out garage rack and a Pelican storage box handle the gear, while an exterior propane grill covers dinner when the induction cooktop feels too civilized.
Straight From the Source
Here’s the part that softens the sticker shock, at least slightly. SX-009 is being sold by EarthRoamer itself, meaning the same Dacono, Colorado shop that hand-built the thing has vetted it for resale.
In a segment where 34-foot expedition rigs rarely trade hands, factory-certified is about as safe as used-truck shopping gets.
