First debuting in 1978, the Toyota Supra would slowly transform from a sporty yet economical commuter-focused model into one of the most legendary sports car nameplates of all time. With 2023 marking four and a half decades since the vehicle first entered production, the Japanese marque has opted to celebrate the occasion via a special edition model variant in the form of the 2024 Toyota GR Supra 45th Anniversary Edition.
Unveiled by Toyota Gazoo Racing alongside special edition versions of the GR86 and GR Corolla, the GR Supra 45th Anniversary Edition features a number of elements that differentiate from existing 2.0, 3.0, and 3.0 Premium-specs of the car. Paying homage to certain famous custom MkIV Supra, the 45th Anniversary Edition model sports a Plasma Orange livery — also found on the new GR Supra GT4 EVO — that’s juxtaposed by matte-black wheels, blacked-out GR calipers, black side skirts, a black rear diffuser, a black front splitter, and a special black Supra side graphic. Additionally, this limited edition model also comes outfitted with a six-speed manual transmission as standard.
Drawing further inspiration from custom track-prepped Supras and street racers, the GR Supra 45th Anniversary Edition has also been bestowed with a massive, manually-adjustable rear wing done up in the same gloss black that adorns the rest of the limited edition’s aero kit. Like the regular GR Supra (3.0 and 3.0 Premium), the 45th Anniversary Edition-spec comes loaded with a 382-hp turbocharged 3.0-liter straight-six fitted with a twin-silencer cat-back exhaust, plus top-shelf adaptive variable suspension. Rounding out the car are body-color-matched radiator mount/sway bars, and a GR-branded engine cover with a pair of matching orange stripes.
Limited to just 45 units in total, the 2024 Toyota GR Supra 45th Anniversary Edition models are scheduled to hit Canadian dealerships in the fall of 2023. Pricing for this special edition release has yet to be revealed.
