As a company with a long and illustrious history of producing world-class sports cars, when Porsche first introduced its Cayenne in 2002, the SUV received a mixed response, with a great many staunch traditionalists turning their nose at the idea of a sport utility vehicle from the Stuttgart firm. Despite its initial reception, Porsche’s luxury SUV lineup would eventually go on to represent its best-selling models, with the Cayenne and Macan both boasting leading sales figures — a fact that’s prompted the manufacturer to return to the drawing board to deliver a new and improved iteration of its full-sized SUV for the 2024 model year.

This updated version of the third-generation SUV is built atop a newly-optimized chassis with a new PASM-backed two-valve suspension, plus keyless entry, lane-keep assist, 20” wheels, an onboard cabin air quality system, Matrix LED headlights, and onboard wireless phone charging — all as standard. Cosmetically the luxury SUV lineup has also been overhauled, with its exterior now sporting sleeker styling thanks to practically every body panel being redesigned. Also redesigned is the interior, which now features a 12.6” instrument cluster supplemented via an optional HUD and a central 12.3” infotainment display. The lineup also features an even more robust suite of driver aids and assists.

Just like with prior model years, the 2024 lineup will be offered in several trim levels, all of which have been bestowed with upgraded powertrains. The Cayenne E-Hybrid gets a new 463-hp hybrid six-cylinder mill. Replacing the Cayenne S’ V6 engine is a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 that puts down 468hp and 442ft-lbs of torque, allowing for a 4.4-second 0-60 time and a 169-mph top speed (with the Sport Chrono package). At the top of the range is the Cayenne Turbo GT. Equipped with Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control, Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes, rear-axle steering, a Sport Exhaust system with titanium tailpipes, and 22” GT Design wheels all as standard, the Turbo GT-spec packs a 650-hp twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 that offers a 3.1-second 0-60 time and a 189-mph top speed.
