Ah, the iconic G-Wagon (or G-Wagen) – a sleek and rugged SUV that was originally a military offroader, but has become somewhat of a luxury vehicle celebrity. The car began development in 1972 and then became available to the public in 1979, and after this, it quickly became a status symbol among everyone from world leaders to celebrities. To this day, the car is an iconic presence on the road and is still highly sought after, and when AMG came around in ‘67, they were made to be even more special. The Mercedes-AMG G63, in particular, first dropped in 2002, and it’s been a popular (and expensive) SUV ever since and an icon in its own right. Now, the marque has just announced the new addition to the G-Class lineup, the 2024 Mercedes AMG G63 Grand Edition, a special edition off-roader with the same iconic G-Wagon style.
This SUV comes in matte black accented with gold, starting with the AMG and Mercedes logos, which are painted in Kalaharigold magno. Additionally, the inlays in the front and rear bumpers, along with the spare tire’s wheel ring, are also painted in this type of gold.
Also coming with this special edition G63, we have 22-inch AMG forged wheels that feature a cross-spoke design and the same black and gold (tech gold this time) colorway. This tech gold/matte black combo is also found in the side foiling and the Mercedes stars on the wheels. You’re also getting a custom AMG indoor car cover that’s made with tear-resistant synthetic fabric and anti-static flannel inner fabric, which helps keep the car safe from dust and scratches.
The 2024 Mercedes AMG G63 Grand Edition is limited to 1,000 units around the world, with European pricing starting at €228,896 (~ $248,700) and no word yet on its availability in the States.
