Since first debuting in 1999, Harley-Davidson’s Custom Vehicle Operation — or “CVO” — range has represented the pinnacle of the Bar and Shield brand’s bikes, offering its most discerning customers ultra-up-specced versions of its motorcycles that include custom, hand-applied paint jobs, upgraded components, and just about every option and add-on available. And while thus far the Black and Orange’s CVO treatment has exclusively been reserved for its cruisers, choppers, and baggers, the MoCo is now taking things in a different direction with the debut of its first-ever CVO class adventure motorcycle; the Harley-Davidson CVO Pan America.

Released to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the Milwaukee marque’s Custom Vehicle Operation program, the CVO Pan America is the result of Harley setting out to deliver a spare-no-expense, expedition-grade version of its inaugural ADV model. Like all CVO models, the Pan America benefits from an enormous number of components and upgrades that all come as standard. Costing $8,400 more than the Pan America 1250 Special base model, the CVO Pan America comes cloaked in a CVO-exclusive, hand-painted Legendary Orange livery with Raven Metallic and Atlas Silver trim, CVO 25th Anniversary graphics, and the brand’s classic #1 logo on the tank — a nod to Mert Lawwill’s 1969 AMA Grand National Championship title and the number-board he used after. The bike also comes loaded with a full suite of removable aluminum hard luggage made by elite German adventure brand SW-MOTECH, as well as a removable 40-liter waterproof duffle bag.

At the heart of the CVO class adventure bike is Harley’s Revolution Max 1250 engine — a 76.4-cubic inch (1,251.9cc), liquid-cooled, sequential port fuel-injected V-Twin cranking out 150hp and 95ft-lbs of torque at 6,750RPM and 8,750RPM respectively. Also included is a Screamin’ Eagle quick-shifter, an adaptive Daymaker LED headlamp, a 6.8” full-color TFT touchscreen, a set of LED auxiliary lights, a suite of crash bars, an onboard tire pressure monitoring system, a CVO-model-exclusive aluminum skid plate design, a custom CVO-exclusive saddle, tubeless anodized aluminum spoked wheels, and an adaptive ride height system paired with a semi-active suspension setup fore and aft. It doesn’t end there, as the American marque has also bestowed the motorcycle with a massive slew of electronic rider aids and assists such as five pre-programmed ride modes, vehicle hold control, wheel lift mitigation, and cornering-enhanced, electronically-linked ABS, traction control, and drag-torque slip control.

Produced in limited numbers, the 2024 Harley-Davidson CVO Pan America is available for order now, with pricing starting at $28,399.
