In continuous production sincirst introduced in 1964, the Ford Mustang is undeniably one of the most iconic cars of all time. And after nearly 60 years of being in continuous production, the Blue Oval has now pulled the cover off of the all-new seventh-generation Mustang for the 2024 model year.
Ford has treated the seventh-gen Mustang to a substantial facelift that sees the pony car bestowed with markedly sleeker lines and an overall more modern aesthetic, while still drawing ample influence from the original 1960s model. Available with an automatic or six-speed manual transmission, the seventh-gen base model is offered with Ford’s turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder EcoBoost powertrain, while the Mustang GT comes equipped with the fourth-generation 5.0-liter Coyote V8 engine that now boasts an innovative dual air intake box and a dual-throttle body design. Inspired by fighter jet cockpits, the 2024 Mustang’s cabin has also been heavily reworked and now boasts two massive customizable digital displays and a flat bottom steering wheel.
On top of featuring six drive modes including drag and track modes as well as a customizable setting, another major highlight of the latest Mustang is an available electronic hand brake engineered specifically for drifting. Ford is also offering an optional Performance Pack that features a plethora of track-focused hardware and upgrades such as Torsen limited-slip diff, MagneRide active suspension, a front tower brace, Brembo brakes, and wider rear wheels. There’s also a GT Performance pack that features brake ducts, an active exhaust, and RECARO seats. Ford has also introduced what it calls Power-Up software updates, that allow the car to be upgraded via over-the-air firmware updates. Lastly, Ford has also announced an all-new Dark Horse track pack option that will be available on the GT-spec 2024 model year vehicle.
Assembled at the Blue Oval’s Flat Rock, Michigan plant, the 2024 Ford Mustang lineup is slated to go on sale next summer. And while Ford has yet to reveal pricing, we anticipate the seventh-gen Mustang to feature a similar base price to the existing model year — which starts at $27,470.
